Intelligence Development in Babies

One of the most important points for mothers is understanding that a baby's brain development begins as early as the 4th week of pregnancy and continues thereafter. It is crucial to monitor this developmental process based on age-specific milestones.

After birth, recognizing the emotional and behavioral characteristics of each developmental stage—such as motor, social, cognitive, and language development—is essential to support a child’s intelligence. Play plays a major role in this process. For babies and children, play is not just entertainment—it's a powerful learning tool. When games are chosen according to the child's age range and played routinely, they significantly boost brain development. During playtime, toys should also be selected based on age-appropriateness.

For example:

  • 0–6 months: Avoid exposure to TVs and screens; choose colorful and moving toys; talk to your baby often to support communication.

  • 6–12 months: Encourage reaching, pulling, and pushing movements with colorful, sound-producing toys.

  • 12+ months: As your baby gains more mobility, introduce fill-and-dump games, picture books, and name visuals out loud like: “Look, this is a car,” or “The child is walking.” These aid language development.

  • Use playdough to support both fine and gross motor skills.

Instead of screen time, you can play calming music or fairy tales through the radio. Around 2–3 years of age, curiosity peaks—explain what’s under, behind, above, and beside everyday objects to help them explore.

To support individual independence, encourage daily routines such as brushing teeth, using tissues, washing hands and face, or using cutlery. Every child develops at their own pace, so not all milestones occur at the same time. However, tracking development through developmental screening tests regularly during the 0–6 age range helps manage this period in a healthier way.
